Photos Browser

The Photos page organizes all diary photos by their location and compass orientation, letting you see at a glance how each spot has changed over time. Every photo tagged with an area and orientation in your diary entries is indexed here.

Overview​

The Photos page provides:

  • Spots Grid (mobile) -- Shows photos grouped by area, with chip-style navigation between area groups
  • Spots Table (desktop) -- Rows are areas, columns are compass orientations; each cell shows the photo count and the date of the most recent photo
  • Spot Viewer -- Open any spot to step through its photos chronologically, with keyboard navigation and a "Same spot over time" history list linking back to the diary entries
  • Visual Documentation -- Compare how a room, facade, or landscape changed week by week or month by month

Spots Table (Desktop)​

The table organizes all photos you've captured by area and orientation. Each cell shows:

  • Photo Count -- how many photos exist for this spot
  • Latest Diary Date -- when the most recent photo was captured
  • Thumbnail -- the latest photo at that spot

Click a cell to open the Spot Viewer and step through all photos at that spot chronologically.

Spots Grid (Mobile)​

On mobile devices, photos are shown in a card grid with area and orientation labels. Use the Area chips at the top to filter to a specific area or see all spots across your project.

Click any card to open the Spot Viewer.

Spot Viewer​

When you open a spot, the viewer shows:

  • Current Photo -- The selected photo in full view
  • Navigation -- Use Earlier Photo / Later Photo buttons to step through photos at this spot by diary date
  • Keyboard Shortcuts -- Press Left/Right arrows to navigate, or Esc to return to the spots list
  • Photo Details -- Area, orientation, and the diary entry's caption and date
  • Same Spot Over Time -- A list of all diary entries with photos at this spot, in reverse chronological order. Click any entry to jump to that photo in the viewer

Relationship to Diary​

Every photo in the Photos page came from a diary entry. To add photos to the Photos index:

  1. Open the Diary page
  2. Create or edit a manual entry (Daily Log, Site Visit, or Delivery)
  3. Add photos with + Add Photo
  4. Tag each photo with an Area and Orientation (compass direction or Ceiling/Floor)

Photos without an area or orientation are skipped by the Photos index and only appear in the diary entry itself.
